In partnership with Motti & Smith, BLE lit up taste buds during Vivid Sydney with an installation that blurred the lines between food, art and architecture. Blacklight Dessert Lab was a multi-sensory experience at Darling Square in conjunction with Lendlease. The ultraviolet illuminated, dichroic wrapped black cube featured collaborations with street artists and some of Sydney’s food and beverage heavyweights including Messina, DOPA by Devon, Edition Coffee Roasters and Bubble Nini with a rotating menu of glow-in-the-dark desserts.
This was a sugar-fuelled glow-up that brought smiles, selfies, and moments from every angle - proof that sometimes the brightest ideas come covered in sprinkles!
A purpose-built structure featuring floor-to-ceiling ultra-violet lighting, immersive audio-visual content, and dichroic surface treatments created a striking beacon in the precinct.

More than 16,000 attendees experienced the installation, many returning to try new desserts as the menu changed throughout the festival.
Blacklight was voted one of the top experiences of Vivid Sydney, generating strong media coverage and wide public acclaim.
